Our Community Food Drive
The Buddha taught that all beings are interconnected, and when one suffers from hunger, we all suffer. Food insecurity is a form of suffering that can be alleviated through the practice of selfless giving.
By donating your time or money, you are not just offering a meal; you are offering relief from suffering, strengthening the bonds of our shared humanity, and planting a seed of bodhicitta (the awakening mind) within yourself. Help us extend compassion beyond our Sangha and nourish the lives of our neighbors.
Two ways to make a difference:
-

Harvester's Community Food Network
In Harvesters’ 27-county service area:
1 in 7 people are at risk of hunger, or more than 374,000 individuals.
1 in 6 kids are at risk of hunger. That’s 110,240 children.
We have started this Virtual Food Drive for Harvesters, our local food bank, and we hope you will join us. Choose from a variety of Harvester’s most-needed items, fresh or non-perishable foods, or make a monetary donation. Every $1 you donate helps Harvesters provide up to 2 MEALS! Together, we can help make a difference for many!

Kanbe's Markets
Every year, billions of pounds of fresh, nutritious food go to waste—but together, we can change that. In 2025, we’re on a mission to redirect 1.25 million pounds of fruits and vegetables away from landfills and into the hands of those who need them most.
Volunteers are the heart of this effort. Whether you're sorting fresh produce, assisting at events, or lending your skills in other ways, your time and energy create a direct impact on food access right here in our Kansas City community.
