Unity Temple on the Plaza lives out its motto “Where diversity is praised and peace and harmony are the rewards” by opening its doors to a multitude of people, events, groups and classes utilizing the Temple’s facilities. The Temple accommodates ten to twenty events a day. It is centrally located in the heart of Kansas City and on the world-renowned, scenic Country Club Plaza. A six-level parking facility that wraps around the Temple makes parking most convenient. And hotel accommodations are within easy walking distance.
The staff provides hospitable and personable “customer-friendly” service. They go out of their way to make everyone feel comfortable and at home. The Temple preserves and exudes a peaceful and serene environment in the middle of one of the country’s oldest outdoor shopping districts, with haute couture retail stores, numerous restaurants, sculpted water fountains, classical and modern statuary and horse-drawn carriages, in a romantic setting modeled after the Plaza in Seville, Spain.
The Plaza itself is located on all major bus lines to downtown and is near another Kansas City entertainment district called Westport, a historic area originally a supply depot and starting point for the wagon trains traveling on the Santa Fe, California and Oregon Trails. Westport, the Plaza and Loose Park immediately south of the Plaza are all part of a National Historic District encompassing the largest Civil War battle west of the Mississippi.
The many and diverse people and groups who have held events at Unity Temple include:
University of Missouri at Kansas City, St. Luke’s Hospital, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Bernstein-Rein National Advertising Company, Paul Messner Puppets, Kansas City Jazz Orchestra, Spirituality And All That Jazz, Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, Psychic Studies Institute, the Kansas City Chapter of the International Feng Shui Guild, American Buddhist Center, Catholic Church of Antioch, Glad Tidings Orchestra, the Mayor’s Office of Kansas City, and countless more.
